In order to get more than 4 skills you need to map them in your skills tab.
Simply open your skills tab an tap "Map Skills to main display."
Next, tap a skill and then tap an empty skill slot:
That's it! Now to switch between skill bars simply tap the arrows in the bottom right of the game screen:
